500 families in Mambaling get assistance

Rowena D. Capistrano - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — Residents of Barangay Mambaling in Cebu City have received relief goods from the Church and religious groups.

The Archdiocese of Cebu, Cebu Caritas Inc., and Commission on the Laity turned over yesterday the donation to Gines Abellana, the village chief.

The relief packs were intended for the 500 families of Sitio Tinabangay and Sitio Alaska Centro, said Fr. Alex Cola Jr., Cebu Caritas Inc. chairman.

Each relief pack contains three kilos of rice, three cans of sardines, three cans of beef loaf, and two sachets of soap.

Mambaling has 43 COVID-19 cases as of yesterday. It is the fifth barangay in the city with most number of infections.

Cola said they are accepting donations in cash and in kind for low-income families hardest hit by the enhanced community quarantine due to COVID-19 pandemic.  KQD (FREEMAN)
