Over 10 thousand workers get COVID cash aid in Central Visayas
CEBU, Philippines — The Department of Labor and Employment-7 has disbursed over P53-million in financial assistance to 10,795 workers affected by the enhanced community quarantine in Central Visayas due to COVID-19 pandemic.
DOLE-7 information officer Luchel Taniza said the affected workers are from 528 business establishments across the region that were forced to temporarily shut down because of the health crisis. According to Taniza, a total of P53,975,000 under the COVID-19 Adjustment Measures Program (CAMP) has been disbursed wherein each affected worker was given one-time assistance of P5,000. The CAMP covers workers in private establishments.
Taniza said DOLE-7 will soon be releasing the list of approved companies per province for easy reference. As of the moment, she asked for patience and understanding from all of their clients as they are still reconciling all figures and names of establishments.
"We are asking for patience and understanding from our clients since most of them are asking for the list of approved establishments. We are still polishing the list and this time, we will release it per province for easy reference. We will release the list very soon," Taniza told The Freeman.
DOLE-7 is now working closely with a money remittance center as its service provider for the distribution and release of financial assistance to affected workers.
"Money remittance center gihapon ta and workers should wait for their transaction code," Taniza said.
Beneficiaries and companies will be notified once the service provider sends confirmation of its receipt of the amount/payment for the workers under a particular company.
