2 positive COVID-19 cases in Lapu-Lapu

CEBU, Philippines — Lapu-Lapu City in Cebu now has two confirmed coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases, according to records of the Department of Health (DOH) as of March 30, 2020.

Mayor Junard Chan said in a statement that the patients are now isolated at hospitals in neighboring Mandaue City and Cebu City. Contact tracing has been undertaken by the mayor’s COVID-19 Incident Management Team.

Patient No. 1 is a 70-year-old married man with pre-existing illness and whose son is a doctor. Patient No. 2 is a 74-year old man whose wife is a doctor.

The Incident Management Team has made preemptive containment on the families of the patients.

Chan said those living in the compound where Patient No. 1 lives are now being monitored. The Incident Management Team visited the compound on March 25.

Patient 2 was found positive a few days ago and his wife is now being monitored.

The city is withholding their identities, as mandated by the law.  JMO (FREEMAN)
