Drug busts net 7 ‘pushers,’ HVIs

CEBU, Philippines — Seven suspected drug personalities, including two high-value individuals (HVIs), were arrested in separate buy-bust operations in the cities of Talisay and Cebu.

In Barangay Tanke, Talisay City on Friday night, an HVI and five others were caught with illegal drugs worth P74,460.

The suspects are Johnrey Talam, 28, Erdamae Base Abangan, 20, Arvie Mabanto, 26, Eugenio Cadungog, 45, Rodulfo Escanillan, 37, and Bani Baritugo, 18. All of them are residents of the city.

Talam, who sidelines as a drug seller and a technician, was the primary subject of the operation.

Talisay police identified Talam as an HVI.

In a separate operation in Barangay Basak, Cebu City Thursday, a 49-year-old HVI was also arrested by authorities from the Pardo Police Station.

Seized from the suspect, Marlon Domingo, were 55 grams of illegal drugs worth P274,000 and buy-bust money.

All seven suspects will face charges for violating Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165 or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.  KQD (FREEMAN)
