CCPO to cluster baragays for ECQ implementation

Iris Hazel M. Mascardo - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines —  The Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) is set to cluster the barangays, according to the availability of their resources, in order to have a synchronized manner in the implementation of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ).

This is also in line with the closing of the borders of Cebu City, which will be heavily monitored by the authorities.

CCPO Director Hector Grijaldo said that aside from closing the city borders from those who are non-Cebu City residents, except those who are authorized to enter bearing the needed clearances, the movements of the residents in each barangays will be limited.

This would mean that residents in barangays that have enough supply will not be allowed to cross to the other barangays, with exceptions again to those who have quarantine passes.

Grijaldo added that one of the qualifications that the barangay has enough supply would be the number of grocery stores and markets located in its area.

However, those barangays that lack markets or grocery stores will be paired with the other barangays with existing establishments.

“Dili pwede nga ang taga diri sa Kalunasan nga mga tao, mangadto sa Colon kay mamalit isda. Limitahan nato ilahang movement. Mao man ni ang purpose sa enhanced community quarantine,” said Grijaldo.

Grijaldo added that as the CCPO would cluster the barangays, the village chiefs would need to cascade the same method to the Purok advisers who would go to the household leaders of each family.

During the ECQ, public utility jeepneys would no longer be allowed but the private vehicles with the quarantine passes will still be permitted.

Grijaldo is asking the public not to panic as they will still be allowed to go outside, given that they undergo the process required by the government.

He added that there will be free buses that will be provided by the government to transport those who are set to go to certain areas for their needs.

Grijaldo had met with the barangay captains and station commanders of the city yesterday morning in order to have a dynamic implementation of the clustering.  GAN (FREEMAN)
