P10.4 million shabu seized; 3 arrested in drug busts
CEBU, Philippines — Illegal drugs worth around P10.4 million were confiscated from three suspected drug personalities in three separate buy-bust operations in the cities of Cebu and Mandaue.
Bulk of the drugs with an estimated value of P6.9 million was recovered from Edsan Quilaton Canillo,29, a resident of C. Padua Street, Barangay Sawang Calero in Cebu City.
Mandaue City Police Office’s Intelligence Branch recovered at least one kilo of shabu from Canillo following an operation Thursday night in Barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City.
In another operation yesterday in Barangay Bulacao, Cebu City, the elements of the Cebu City Intelligence Branch (CIB) arrested Wesley Chua, 34, for possessing shabu weighing 405 grams worth P2.7 million.
About two hours after Chua’s arrest, the CIB also arrested Samuel Villadar, 47, on Escario Street, Barangay Kamputhaw, Cebu City. Villadar is a resident of San Roque, Barangay Quiot in the same city.
Drugs weighing 106 grams were recovered from Chua. The drugs were valued at P720,000.
Chua and Villadar were both considered as high-value targets in the regional level.
Police Major Randy Caballes, CIB chief, said Chua’s brother is the one supplying the drugs reportedly sourced from the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City.
“His (Chua) brother delivers the drugs to him. He travels by land using their own vehicle,” said Caballes.
Caballes said Chua operates and distributes drugs in the cities of Cebu and Talisay.
Chua could dispose of at least 300 grams of illegal drugs a week. KQD (FREEMAN)
