Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — To give the people of Consolacion the time to celebrate its 100th founding anniversary, Malacañang has declared February 6, 2020 a special non-working day in the said town.

Upon the authority of President Rodrigo Duterte, Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea signed the Proclamation Number 878 on January 6, 2020.

“It is but fitting and proper that the people of the Municipality of Consolacion be given full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies,” read the proclamation.

Consolacion used to be a barangay of the then municipality of Mandaue. It became an independent municipality in 1920. Now a first class municipality composed of 21 barangays in the north of Metro Cebu. The town is known for its “sarok” festival.  FPL (FREEMAN)
