CEBU, Philippines —  A 22-year-old female Russian national was allegedly raped by a Filipino who offered to be her guide while she was on tour in Panglao, Bohol Province last Tuesday morning.

The Russian lady, who was working as a teacher in China, was on a vacation since January 20, while staying in one of the town’s hostels.

Police Staff Sergeant Vicky Villaber of the Women and Children Protection Desk of Panglao Police Station said the victim was spending time alone by the seashore at around 7 a.m. to take pictures when a man who was selling jewelry suddenly approached her.

“At first kay wala gyud sya mitubay kay dili man pud siya interesado sa mga jewelries, sige man jud ug pangutana-pangutana kay gustong makig-istorya niya,” Villaber said.

Villaber added that the Russian national instead asked for a direction on where she could buy a towel.

The suspect allegedly obliged and offered to take her into a nearby store.

‘Unya that time wala man syay gidala nga kwarta, mao tung niingon siya (Russian) nga later nalang ko mupalit kay wa ko kadala ug kwarta, nya niingon ang laki nga pahuwamon ka nako, mamaylo ko sa akong friend,” Villaber said.

When the foreigner was able to purchase a towel and decided to go home after swimming, the man allegedly went with her to get the money she had borrowed earlier for the towel.

Upon this, both went back to the shore to again take pictures.

However, when the Russian once again decided to go home, the male jewelry vendor offered a shortcut in going to the hostel she was temporarily staying at.

“Abi pud niya ug tinarong nga pagka-ubana, pag-abot kuno didto sa unahan nga nay mga kahoy, didto sya gipahigda then gituok, then pagka-tuok nawad-an syag panimuot, na-unconscious siya” Villaber said.

Villaber further narrated that the Russian claimed that when she woke up, she no longer have any clothes on and found out that her phone was also missing.

This prompted the victim to ask for help from the people around the area who reported the incident to the police station.

At present, the authorities said that they have already placed the Russian national under medical examination while they were on the hunt of the suspect who is still at large, as of this writing.  GAN (FREEMAN)
