CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) is calling on the public to surrender any unlicensed or unregistered firearm to the authorities.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Randy Korret, chief of the City Mobile Force Company of the CCPO,  said those who are possessing unlicensed firearms could either get imprisoned or could also get hurt due to misuse of their own unregistered firearms.

At present, the CCPO has already received more than a thousand unlicensed firearms turned over by the residents.

The campaign against loose firearm is in line with the organization’s and the president’s directive. Korret said any individual may visit or call any police station near them to facilitate the turnover of the firearm.

About 20,000 to 30,000 firearms are unlicensed and more than 11,000 firearms have licenses that are already expired.

The CCPO have about 4,000 firearms and 12 grenades that do not have corresponding licenses.  GAN (FREEMAN)
