5 women fall in drug bust; P7 million shabu seized

CEBU, Philippines — Around P7 million worth of illegal drugs were confiscated by the police from a six suspects , five of whom women, during a buy-bust operation in Sitio Bangkerohan, Barangay Tayud, Consolacion town Monday.

The operation resulted in the arrest of a certain Jo-ann Calinpon Sanchez, 42; RJ Jazon Paul Jerusalem, 28; Jonalyn Dinoy Bemtazal, 27; Jennifer Narido Flores, 21; Baby Ybanez Beldosola, 25; and Helen Pacala Cuevas, 52.

According to Police Major Vernino  Noserale, Consolacion Police Station chief, the original subjects of the operation were Sanchez and Jerosalem, who were both identified as station level targets. They are reportedly a live-in partners.

Noserale said that they have been monitoring the subjects for two weeks until they finally conducted the operation.

Since last July, the names of these two suspects have  been consistently surfacing in reports on the illegal drug trade, especially in the area, according to Noserale.

“Daghan man gu’ng tawo dira sa Tayud, so ang possibility is daghang market,” he added.

Moreover, Noserale said that from their investigation, the suspects were found to be able to dispose of a kilo of shabu in just a span of three days.

“Ang role man gud nila sa group is mura silag gibinlan sa gamit. Mura silag bodega. Mura silag nagsilbi nga warehouse,” he said.

“For example, naay lain ga-transact: mao tuy mo-dictate nila nga naay mokuha... Ing-ana na sila ka-organized, kumbaga lahi ang mo-transact, lahi ang mohatag, lahi pud ang maningil,” he added.

The suspects are now under the police custody and are set to face appropriate charges.  JMD (FREEMAN)
