PDEA-7 claims no selling of ecstasy during Sinulog
CEBU, Philippines — The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-7 claimed that the selling of ecstasy, if there was any during the recent Sinulog, was not as rampant compared to the previous celebrations.
In fact, anti-narcotics agents have not seized a single party drug during the festivity.
PDEA-7 director Wardley Getalla said there were series of inspections conducted along the streets with their K-9 units doing a street sweeping operation during and after the Sinulog Grand Parade but found nothing.
“Actually there is an improvement in the law enforcement effort when it comes to ecstasy,” Getalla told reporters.
He thanked the active participation of the community in making sure that no party drugs will be sold on the streets.
“Of course we are thankful of the support of the community because some of them are giving us information,” he said.
Getalla claimed that through their efforts they were able to significantly bring down the supply of party drugs during this year’s Sinulog.
“We can say that in this season of Sinulog, I think we had an impact on the community and there is a decrease of proliferation of ecstasy,” he said.
Getalla admitted they have monitored attempts to sell and use ecstasy but their presence denied the drug suppliers and even users the opportunity to do it. (FREEMAN)
