BOC meets port stakeholders to strengthen coordination

CEBU, Philippines — As part of the intensified trade facilitation efforts of the Bureau of Customs-Cebu, Acting District Collector Charlito Martin R. Mendoza recently met with the major port stakeholders.

Lawyer Lemuel Erwin P. Romero, who is the Acting Deputy Collector for Assessment, has accompanied Mendoza in the meeting.

Mendoza met with the representatives from Therma Visayas, Mabuhay Filcement Corporation, PhilGold Processing and Refining Corporation, Chioson Development Corporation, Kepco SPC Power Corporation, Apo Cement Corporation, Cebu Energy Development Corporation, Taiheiyo Cement Corporation, Ecossential Foods Corporation, and Cagayan Corn Products Corporation.

Other port stakeholders are scheduled for individual meeting next week.

In their Facebook post, the BOC-Cebu said that the weeklong engagement is aimed to strengthen coordination and establish shared commitment with the port’s major stakeholders.

During the meeting, respective concerns of the attendees and relevant issues concerning the operations of the port were addressed. Points for improvement in import processing were also discussed.

As the new collection year begins, the port looks forward in improving its services to better serve the transacting public.

The stakeholders on the other hand have expressed their full support to the port in its bid to effectively implement its policies and to efficiently facilitate trade to make the agency an instrument for economic growth and commerce.  GAN (FREEMAN)
