Carbon launches “Pasko na 2019”

CEBU, Philippines — The spirit of Christmas filled the Carbon Public Market, as the Cebu City government launched the “Carbon, Pasko na 2019” yesterday.

This is the 14th year of the program in the city’s biggest market, which was a project that Vice Mayor Michael Rama is spearheading.

Maria Pino, president of the Cebu City United Vendors Association Inc. (CCUVA), said the city government ensured that the presence of Christmas season in the market will be truly felt not just by the vendors but also the public.

“Gihangop namo ang kaalegre karon, lahi sa niaging mga tuig,” said Pino.

Pino added there is more city government participation in the preparations for the Christmas program at the Carbon Public Market this year.

“Carbon, Pasko na 2019” showcases a more vibrant Carbon with the different Christmas lights and decorations installed in the whole area.

City Market Administrator Jonil Matuguina said that the Carbon Public Market, being the main supplier of all the products consumed during holidays, deserves to be given a touch of Christmas.

“Rich kaayo ang kultura ug history sa Carbon. Dili nato kini hikalimtan labi na sa pasko. Ang ato lang gipangindahay nga kining pagselebrar nato sa pasko sa Carbon mahimong mabungahon, safe, ug luwas ta sa kalamidad,” said Matuguina.

Meanwhile, Philippine National Police representative Police Captain Alvin Llamedo appealed for the public’s support in order to keep the Carbon Public Market peaceful and orderly this Christmas season.

He mentioned that the so-called “triangle offense” where there is coordination between the police, community, and local government unit should be present.

A Misa de Gallo, from December 16-24, will also be held at the Carbon Public Market.  GAN (FREEMAN)
