CEBU, Philippines — A high school teacher the police tagged as a high-value target was arrested for selling shabu in Dalaguete town at around 9 a.m. Friday morning.

Police Sergeant Bricel Ricarborda of the Dalaguete Police Station said they kept an eye on Roy Osorio Ysao, 40, for more than a month before hatching the operation.

Ysao is a resident of Sitio Lalin, Barangay Poblacion in Dalaguete and taught at the Dalaguete National High School.

The operation last Friday was conducted on Jose Rizal Street right outside the school. The police arrested Ysao with .35 grams of shabu worth an estimated P2,000.

Ricaborda said Ysao is considered a high value target, considering he is a public employee.

He said Ysao admitted selling drugs to some of his friends but was mum when asked if he sold drugs to his students.  It was reportedly difficult to track Ysao because he was discreet.

“Dili man gud kaayo mi ka-penetrate sa iyang activities kay dili kaayo siya muhatag dayon sa iyang mga kaila... galisod pag subay (We couldn’t penetrate his activities because he wouldn’t also sell easily to his friends… we had a difficult time tracking),” Ricaborda said.

The operation last Friday was carried out in coordination with the Alcoy town police.

Ysao is now detained at the Dalaguete Police and will face charges of violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act. JMO (FREEMAN)
