CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu provincial government has already begun with the pre-procurement process for the fuel providers for the fleet card system, provincial general services officer Bernard Calderon said.

Yesterday marked the start of the pre-procurement process for the fleet card fuel providers.

Two major oil companies, Petron and Phoenix, have already presented their proposals during the last Economic Enterprise Council Meeting held on October 16.

Calderon also disclosed that the total budget for the fleet card contract is at around P24 million.

The contract will cover all Capitol office vehicles. The schedule for bidding is on December 10.

"Ang karon ra nga year. One year ra ni nga contract," Calderon clarified.

Because the budget will be sourced from next calendar year's annual budget, they will have to wait until January 2 before the notice of award could be given.

Calderon said that the transaction is a form of an early procurement.

In the fleet card system, Capitol vehicle drivers will carry around fleet cards that they can present to the awarded oil company whenever they need to refuel.

This system, Calderon said in a past interview, is to ensure a stricter monitoring on the oil consumption of the vehicles and thus less prone to abuse.  JMD (FREEMAN)
