CEBU, Philippines — Boarding passes will now be issued to passengers at the Cebu South Bus Terminal to minimize the buildup of passengers lining up for tickets.

This scheme came after an influx of complaints over the weekend over the long line homebound travelers endured.

Just recently, the Cebu South Bus Terminal, upon the suggestion of Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, implemented a “no ticket, no entry” policy at the passenger waiting area of the terminal. This aims to decongest the area by making sure only passengers use the space.

Garcia met with the Cebu Provincial Treasurer, a representative from Ceres Liners and CBST General Manager Carmen Quijano yesterday to assess the matter. According to the governor, it was Ceres Bus Liner that pitched the suggestion to issue boarding passes.

Boarding passes will be given to passengers so they could enter the passengers’ waiting area. From there, they will buy tickets for their respective trips.

“I said, as the need arises, inyo na nang i-implement. Mo-issue na mo og boarding pass adtong mga di pa ma-issuehan og ticket,” Garcia said.

Despite this, Garcia said that the management boarding passes only solve part of the problem. She reportedly asked CBST management to be more proactive in the implementation of this new scheme.

“For me, that should solve part of the problem but please pwede ba kamo sa’y huna-huna kuno sa possible problems ana. Be more proactive and plot all loopholes bahin anang pag-issue og boarding pass sa atong mga pasahero,” she said.

As for the location of the permanent ticketing booths, the governor said certain stalls like the Co-op and drug testing stalls have until end of the month to vacate. Official ticketing outlets will then take their place.

“Kato nga space perfect gyud unta nga mautangan nato og ticket counters na. Left and right aron magtapad-tapad na didto,” she said.

Garcia added that she will talk to the Provincial Engineer and ask him to design the ticketing booths. (FREEMAN)
