CEBU, Philippines — Capitol workers have recently received their 13th month pay and cash gift from the Province of Cebu.

According to a news report by Sugbo TV, the official news site of the Cebu Provincial Public Information Office, 1,500 casual and regular Capitol employees have received their yearend bonus and cash gift last November 15.

This is mandated by the Department of Budget and Management Memorandum Circular No. 2016-4. The memorandum circular requires local government units to distribute year-end bonuses plus additional cash gift to employees that have rendered their services for about four months since January 1st of the calendar year.

The Capitol employees received an additional month's salary for their bonus and a cash gift of P5,000.

The memorandum prompting the provincial budget officer, provincial treasurer and provincial accountant to expedite the distribution was signed by Governor Gwen Garcia last November 11.

Outsourced employees will also be receiving their 13th month pay from the LBP Services Inc., the official service provider of the province of Cebu and its district and provincial hospitals.

However, Sugbo TV clarified that they are not eligible for the cash bonus as they are private employees not hired directly by the Cebu Provincial Government.

"Apan wala sila maapil sa singko mil nga cash gift kay mahug sila nga private employees o dili employees sa gobyerno," the reported stated. (FREEMAN)
