P2.4 million in shabu seized in fiesta drug bust

CEBU, Philippines —  Police confiscated P2.4 million worth of illegal drugs and arrested five people in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Lawaan 2, Talisay City  early Monday dawn.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Marlu Conag, chief of the Provincial Intelligence Branch, told reporters that the conduct of the buy-bust operation was purposely conducted in time for the celebration of the annual fiesta in Talisay City.

The five arrested persons were identified as Rogelio Delubio Amion,42, Lyndon Lastimosa, Anthony Rijan, John Amion and Rex Aldia.

Aldia is now under hospital arrest after sustaining injuries when he jumped from the second floor of the house where the buy-bust was conducted.

“Still high on drugs that time tumalon siya, nagka-sprain ang ankle niya and nabagok din ulo nya upon falling,” Conag narrated.

“Siya (Aldia) ang may-ari ng bahay. Ginawa niyang drug den ang bahay as a source of income and para makalibre din ng gamit ng droga,” Conag said.

Confiscated from the suspects were 360 grams of suspected shabu with estimated value of  P2.4 million.

One of the suspects, Lyndon Lastimosa, confessed that he was a part of the alleged drug group of Franz Sabalones.

Conag said that their monitoring on the fiesta’s security aimed to ensure that that no illegal drug trade will happen during the celebration.

“At the same time monitor the influx of illegal drugs and deny the supply particularly for the fiesta to ensure that the fiesta is celebrated without drug-related atrocities or incidents,” Conag said.  JMD (FREEMAN)
