CEBU, Philippines — Around P680,000 worth of illegal drugs were confiscated from a 42-year-old regional high-value target  woman inside the Carreta Cemetery last Sunday afternoon.

Seized from Marichu Echivare were an estimated 100 grams of suspected drugs that were now brought to crime laboratory for analysis.

Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) Deputy City Director Leoncio Baliguat Jr. said they still have to investigate her manner of disposing drugs.

"Depende sa iyang capability sa pag-dispose, kini siya mga dinagko na jud ni siya," Baliguat said.

The buy-bust operation conducted was from the information they have gathered from the previous operations until they were able to locate her.

Police Regional Office 7 Director Debold Sinas last Wednesday said that a large amount of suspected illegal drugs has entered Cebu from Marawi.

Baliguat said that there is possibility that the confiscated drugs were part from it.

"We (got) that information sir most likely part na sya, but whether part na sya or dili as long as ma-monitor ni nato sa community within the AOR (Area of Responsibility) namo nga naay ing-ana nga activity, ato gyud ng trabahuon," Baliguat said.

Baliguat as well refused to comment when asked if the suspect is part of a drug group.

Baliguat said that high-value targets are also learning from previous experiences on how to evade arrest.

"They are even using minors, they are even transferring from one place to another para kung gahuna-huna mi unsaon pagdakop niya they also think nga unsa nga di sila madakpan," Baliguat said.

The arrest of the suspect was due to a joint operation of the region, the CCPO and other law enforcement groups.

Echivarre is currently detained at CCPO’s Police Station 4. (FREEMAN)
