Drugs worth P170M seized since August
CEBU, Philippines — At least P170 million worth of illegal drugs have already been confiscated by the police in different operations all over the region from August 1 to September 10 this year, according to Police Regional Office-7 director Police Brigadier General Debold Sinas.
Sinas said that they have been checking the amount of confiscated drugs and he concluded that there are still a lot of drugs coming from the different provinces, especially Cebu.
“I told the intel people to re-assess na instead na mugamay, mas daghan pa gihapon mi nadakpan,” Sinas said.
Sinas added that they are looking at two reasons why the supply of drugs seems endless.
First, the drugs hoarded during the elections are just coming out right now.
The second is the entry of a big supply of drugs from Marawi.
“As of now naa mi nadunggan nga naay big supply nga naabot sa atoa nga gikan sa Marawi, from somewhere, then … it enters Cebu. Then from Cebu it is distributed around the province,” Sinas said.
The alleged supplier from Marawi is an old subject of police monitoring who resurfaced recently.
“Diri na siya then gigukod, then nakapag-bail, tapos wala na siya diri. Didto na ni siya sa Marawi nag-base,” he said.
The said supplier from Marawi has an alleged network here that has been monitored already.
Authorities said they are just waiting for the right time to arrest them.
“Dako ni siya. Isa siya sa mga dako nga syndicate nga gi-monitor nga active sa ato karon. Kini siyang grupoha mao ni nadunggan namo nga nagpagawas ug 15 kilos,” Sinas said.
Aside from shabu, he also told his policemen to be aggressive in going after marijuana, which is popular among youngsters.
Meanwhile, P12 million worth of suspected drugs was confiscated from a 27-year-old woman in Sitio Galilee, Barangay Duljo-Fatima, Cebu City, on Tuesday night.
The woman was identified as certain Aryan Anne Reyes, who was arrested in her residence during a buy-bust operation. (FREEMAN)
