Japanese shot dead in Toledo City

CEBU, Philippines — A Japanese national was found dead with gunshot wounds at Sitio Climaco Extension, Poblacion, Toledo City yesterday morning.

People in the area had reported to have heard a single burst of gunshots.

When they went out to check, they already found the lifeless victim, who had a gunshot wound to his head.

The victim was identified as Akira Togo, who is about 60 to 70 years old, and a resident of the same place.

Police Staff Sergeant Fredenil Cabañero, Desk officer of the Toledo City Police Station, said that the victim was easily identified by the people in the area as he was also residing there.

The residents also said that they do not have any idea who could be behind the murder, since the victim was known to be a kind old man in the area with no enemies recorded.

Cabañero said that Togo has been living in the area for quite some time already.

Togo used to have a Filipina live-in partner, but they reportedly separated.

The police are yet to verify the culprit of the murder and are still investigating the motive of the killing. (FREEMAN)
