More insurance cards for 6th district drivers
CEBU, Philippines — Cebu 6th District Emmarie "Lolypop" Ouano Dizon plans to expand the distribution of "Ouanocare" cards to drivers of motorcycles-for-hire (habal-habal) and tricycles in the entire district.
About 1,400 motorcycle-for-hire and tricycle drivers in Mandaue City have already been given "Ouanocare" cards.
"As the mother of 6th District, it is my utmost priority to address the health needs of my people hence, I made Ouanocare possible. Now, they can easily use their Ouanocare card and get P50,000 worth of accident insurance during an emergency. Di na angay mabalaka," she said in her Facebook post.
The motorcycle-for-hire and tricycle drivers who have received the cards are from the Mandaue City barangays of Opao, Umapad, Maguikay, Casuntingan, Cabancalan, Tawason, Casili, Cubacub, Tingub, Pagsabungan, Tabok, Canduman, Paknaan, Labogon, and Jagobiao.
Dizon said she will give around 600 more cards to beneficiaries in Mandaue City and will also give the cards to motorcycle-for-hire and tricycle drivers in the towns of Cordova and Consolacion sometime next year.
Dizon said that this is one of her efforts to addressing the primary needs of drivers in the barangays.
"We will keep uplifting the quality of life in our district. Sa atoang pagtinabangay, wala’y imposible, wala’y makapugong," she said.
"We serve where it matters most. Kini man sila ang vulnerable sa aksidente and most them dili na maka huna-huna sa pagpalit ug insurace tungod intawon sa kalisod sa kita. So, we should give them the care they deserve," she added. — BRP (FREEMAN)
