Gov. Garcia working on blacklisting WTC
CEBU, Philippines — Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia is now working on the initial steps to blacklist WT Constructions Inc. after the contractor did not comply with her 48-hour ultimatum.
Garcia is staunchly against the continued construction of the 20-storey Cebu Resource Center, saying the infrastructure project could mean an "irreversible economic loss."
"We are looking at the proper procedures on how WT will be henceforth blacklisted from all government projects of the Province of Cebu," Garcia stated.
She said her office will also relay the issue to the Government Procurement Policy Board so that "WT will be in the roster of blacklisted contractors."
As for the backfilling of the excavation site, she said she will not spend any more funds from the province.
"Kung dili na niya i-backfill, naa man iyang mga equipment diha. Basin ato nang ipa-auction," Gwen suggested, referring to the equipment seized by the province from WTCI. — LPM (FREEMAN)
