The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — Seventy-three scholars from Talisay City received yesterday school supplies from Aboitiz Foundation, the social development arm of the Aboitiz Group.

The beneficiaries were residents of Barangays Lagtang and Candulawan, where Aboitiz operates some of its businesses.

For six years, the foundation has been providing Street Urban Working Children (SUWC) with scholarship grants and financial programs.

Jasmin Unabia, 16, a scholar of the Aboitiz Foundation, thanked Aboitiz for the educational support.

“Nindot ang scholarship kay dakong tabang sa mga estudyanteng kabus sama nako,” she said.

Aboitiz Foundation First Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Maribeth Marasigan said education remains at the forefront of Aboitiz’s corporate social responsibility initiatives.

“We, the Aboitiz Foundation, always take pride in helping goal-oriented students like you. We hope our efforts and support will continuously inspire you despite your struggles,” she told the scholars during the turnover of school supplies at the Talisay City People’s Hall. — Ma. Mae C.
