Rerouting in place for oath taking

CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO) in coordination with the Traffic Patrol Group and the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) has announced that vehicular traffic in the downtown area will be rerouted during the oathtaking ceremony of the newly elected city officials on Sunday at Plaza Sugbo.

The rerouting will start at 7 a.m. until the activity is completed.

The CCTO had announced the temporary closure of Osmeña Boulevard – from D. Jakosalem Street to Lapu-Lapu Street; D. Jakosalem Street – from Legaspi Street to Osmeña Boulevard; P. Burgos Street – from Legaspi Street to M. C. Briones Street and Magallanes Street – from Lapu-Lapu Street to P. Burgos Street.

The officials and other VIPs who would be joining the event may enter at P. Burgos Street, Osmeña Boulevard or at Magallanes, M. C. Briones and Lapu-Lapu Streets.

The D. Jakosalem Street will be one-way traffic from Osmeña Boulevard towards Legaspi and Magallanes Streets.

All public utility jeepneys (PUJ) coming from Carbon area with route nos. 13B, 62B, 62C and 65B while traversing along M. C. Briones St. shall go straight, then turn left to Lapu-Lapu Street, left turn to V. Gullas Street, right turn to D. Jakosalem Street, to their usual route, then to their point of origin.

The PUJs coming from Banawa, Guadalupe and Capitol areas, while traversing along Osmeña Blvd., shall turn left to Lapu-Lapu Street, left turn to Legaspi Street, turn left to Plaridel Extension, turn right to Osmeña Boulevard, and then to their usual route and then to their point of origin.

Those PUJs passing along P. Burgos Street, shall turn right to Legaspi Street, left turn to V. Gullas Street, right turn to Magallanes Street or Borromeo Street, then to their usual route and to their point of origin.

Motorists, drivers and other road users are advised to follow the traffic signs installed on the rerouting area.

Parking aides will also be assigned on areas designated as parking spaces to assist the guests and visitors for the event. — Joan C. Carbajosa (FREEMAN)
