Garma to pursue libel case vs Tom
CEBU, Philippines — Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) director Royina Garma will pursue the libel complaint that she is eyeing against outgoing Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña over his allegation that she is receiving payola from a gaming technology provider.
The Globaltech Mobile Online Corp. (Globaltech), through lawyer Bernard Vitriolo, earlier clarified that contrary to the allegation of Osmeña, Garma was not protecting an alleged illegal digits game when she was the head of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-7.
"We will pursue the case but we are still studying it carefully. I don’t want to do it in haste," she said.
Garma added she wants an air-tight case and they are still preparing all the necessary documents.
Vitriolo said Globaltech does not need to avail of police protection because their operation is legal.
The Court of Appeals authorized Globaltech to operate their PNB games nationwide, including Cebu City.
In its decision, the CA upheld the status quo ante order issued by the court that allowed PNB operations to proceed pending an arbitration proceeding. — MBG (FREEMAN)
