CCPO to ask for lot, motorcycles from Labella
CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) will request Vice Mayor Edgardo Labella, the incoming mayor, to help it acquire lots for the transfer of its stations located on properties that the police do not own.
Nine out of 11 police stations in Cebu City are erected on lots not owned by the Philippine National Police and these are Waterfront, Parian, Pardo, Mambaling, Labangon, Carbon, Mabolo, Sawang-Calero, and Talamban.
"We hope the LGU will help us look for lots," CCPO director Royina Garma said.
She added only Abellana Police Station and Guadalupe Police Station are erected on lots titled under the name of the PNP.
The Guadalupe Police Station is due for renovation, she added.
Garma said they cannot easily renovate police stations on lots not owned by the PNP as lot ownership is among the requirements for the release of the budget.
Aside from the parcels of land, Garma said they will also request Labella to give them motorcycles.
Although they have patrol cars used in addressing alarms in Cebu City, she said they need motorcycles to immediately respond to alarms considering the traffic situation of the city.
Garma said once Labella assumes office on June 30, she will update him of the peace and order status of Cebu City. — MBG (FREEMAN)
