Cops on full alert for Duterte visit
CEBU, Philippines — Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) is now on red alert status for the expected visit of President Rodrigo Duterte tomorrow in Cebu.
Senior Superintendent Royina Garma, CCPO director, said security checkpoints and other measures have been strengthened to ensure peace and order for the president’s visit.
“Most of the security preparations are already in place,” she said.
Garma said cops will be deployed for political rallies as members of some cause-oriented groups are expected to stage a protest rally during Duterte’s visit.
“Basta after expressing their ideas, disperse naturally,” she said.
She said the Civil Disturbance Management (CDM) will be on standby in case protest rallies will escalate to violence.
Duterte is scheduled to grace the Partido ng Demokratikong Pilipino-Laban political rally tomorrow, a day before the commemoration of the anniversary of the 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution.
