Just one bidder for Capitol’s P84 million parking lot

CEBU, Philippines — Tuanzon Construction firm emerged as the lone qualified bidder for the construction of the four-story Capitol parking lot.

The Talisay City-based firm posted a single calculated and responsive bid of P83.9 million or P500,000 lower than the approved budget for the contract (ABC) of P84.4 million.

Three firms have signified interest to bid for the P84.5million steel car parking structure, but only Tuanzon showed up during the bidding conference on February 11 this year.

Jone Seigfred Sepe, Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) vice chair and Provincial General Services Office chief, said Tuanzon has passed the committee’s initial screening after complying with all bidding requirements, including legal and technical documents.

Sepe said the firm will proceed to post-qualification process.

“Tuanzon is qualified to undergo the post-qualification evaluation after supplying the required documents and posting bid lower than the ABC,” said Sepe.

During the process, the committee’s technical working group will look into the firm’s financial, legal, and technical documents.

Under the procurement laws, the post-qualification will take at least two to three weeks.

But Sepe said the process would only take for seven days.

The parking structure, which has an estimated gross area of 3,342 square meters and a net floor area of 1,671 square meters, will be built beside the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office within the Capitol compound.

The Capitol aims to construct a multi-level parking facility to accommodate vehicles of its employees and clients. The facility is seen to accommodate 100 cars. — KBQ (FREEMAN)
