Man and minor sued for drugs

Mylen P. Manto - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu City Prosecutor’s Office has charged a 36-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy before the court for allegedly helping each other sell shabu.

Prosecutor Jill Ann Paculba Gealon held Brian Sanchez and a minor, both residents of Barangay Labangon, Cebu City, for trial after finding probable cause.

In an inquest proceeding, both of the accused chose to answer the accusations filed against them before the court, instead of the Prosecutor’s Office.

Gealon recommended no bail for the two. Sanchez and the minor are now detained at the Cebu City Jail.

On January 15, 2019, Police Officer 1 Eduardo Darius del Rio of the Labangon Police Station said they received information about the alleged illegal drug activities of Sanchez.

They verified the report and found out it was positive. At 1:47 a.m. of January 16, an entrapment operation was conducted.

Del Rio, who acted as the poseur-buyer, bought shabu from Sanchez in his residence. He said he gave his payment to the minor, the alleged accomplice of Sanchez.

Del Rio said after the transaction was completed, he signaled to his colleagues to arrest the two.

Aside from selling illegal drugs, Sanchez is also facing illegal possession of drugs with no bail recommended. (FREEMAN)
