Liloan town, Davao City to sign sisterhood pact

CEBU, Philippines — Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio is scheduled to sign a sisterhood agreement with Liloan, Cebu Mayor Christina Garcia-Frasco today.

The partnership between the two local government units aims to foster mutual economic and community development, and share best practices among the two LGUs.

Frasco said she is happy to welcome Duterte-Carpio and that the presidential daughter can consider Liloan her second home.

“When Mayor Sara visited Liloan in 2016 when I was still running for Mayor and her father was running for President, we discussed the idea of entering into a sisterhood agreement given our common governance priorities, and have been in discussions since. Signing this sisterhood with Mayor Sara today further strengthens our bond of friendship, and highlights the values we hold in common,” Frasco said.

Frasco and Duterte-Carpio are both lawyers and mothers of three, and are running for reelection.

Frasco’s husband, former Liloan mayor Duke Frasco who was appointed Commissioner of the Cebu Port Authority by President Rodrigo Duterte in 2017, recalled Duterte-Carpio’s visit to Liloan in 2016 to campaign for her father.

“When Mayor Sara visited Liloan in 2016 during my term, we committed our full support for [President] Duterte. We told her she could rely on us as friends especially since her relatives, the Duranos of the 5th District, opted to support Sen. Grace Poe for President. Signing this sisterhood with Mayor Sara fortifies the friendship that was forged in fire during that heavily contested election,” Commissioner Frasco said.

Commissioner Frasco is running for congressman in the fifth district in 2019 elections.

“We are one in vision with Mayor Sara’s Hugpong ng Pagbabago as we have also united in our hope for change in the fifth district,” he added.

Two relatives of the president are running together with Commissioner Frasco. They are Eleanor Duterte for mayor of Danao City and Red Duterte for Provincial Board Member. (FREEMAN)
