P1.3 million shabu seized
CEBU, Philippines — Police seized more than P1.3 million worth of drugs from a drug personality who is considered a high-value target in Tagbilaran City last Monday evening.
The suspect is identified as Goeffrey Silao, 33, who lives in Tagbilaran City but is originally from Talisay City, Cebu.
At around 8:15 p.m., the anti-illegal drug unit of the Bohol Provincial Police Office (BPPO) Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB) in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-7 conducted a buy-bust operation against Silao.
He allegedly sold drugs to a covert policeman that resulted in his arrest.
After his arrest, police frisked Silao’s body and seized one extra-large pack of shabu, five large packs, two medium packs. 13 pieces of P1,000-peso bill with markings used as buy-bust money and a blue box container.
The shabu weighed about 117 grams with an estimated market value of more than P1.3 million.
According to Superintendent Christopher Navida, the chief of PIB, Silao was subjected to surveillance for three weeks before they conducted the operation.
A drug personality who was earlier arrested squealed Silao’s name as the source of shabu.
The police are looking into the possibility that Silao sourced his drugs from Talisay City where he used to live.
“Siya ang source sa Tagbilaran City and umaabot din siya sa other municipalities,” he said.
He added that they have already coordinated with policemen at Talisay City Police Station to check Silao’s connections and drug network. — MBG (FREEMAN)
