Girl, 15, allegedly raped by 7 men

CEBU, Philippines — A 15-year-old girl was allegedly raped by seven men in Sitio Bonbon, Barangay Catarman, Liloan, Cebu, last Wednesday dawn. Seven alleged perpetrators, the oldest 21 the youngest 16 and a Grade 11 student, were arrested later that same day.

The victim said the night before the incident she was persuaded to go drinking by her 20-year-old male friend and the other suspects who were her neighbors. One of them was also her former boyfriend. The group went to drink in a cottage in a dark place near the shore in Sitio Bonbon.

She said she was given a shot glass of liquor allegedly mixed with a substance intended to get her drunk faster. The victim allegedly said she was sexually abused when she became too drunk.

She woke up the next morning lying alone in the cottage and noticed that her clothes were wet. It was also reported that the victim felt pain in her private parts.

Senior Police Officer 1 Rolinda Flores of the Women and Children’s Protection Desk of the Liloan Police Station said the victim reported the crime, but is expected to return to them with evidence.

When the suspects were asked about the incident, they did not cooperate with the police. They are now detained at the Liloan Police Station awaiting charges set to be filed against them today. — Patricia Faith T. Santillan, STC intern/BRP (FREEMAN)
