Dead man found inside plastic bag in Naga

CEBU, Philippines — An unidentified dead body was found inside a large black plastic bag along the riverbank in Barangay Mainit, Naga City on Wednesday afternoon.

Henry Dumogho, a nearby resident, discovered the cadaver when he went to fetch water from the river around 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

He saw a large black plastic bag beside the river with the opening sealed with straw. He went to check and saw the dead body of a man when he opened the bag.

Police Officer 3 Rolly Getubig of Naga City Police Station said they found stab wounds to the victim's back and right underarm as well as bruises all over the face.

The victim appeared to be in his thirties, about five feet and five inches tall. He was wearing a striped white and blue sleeveless shirt and dark flowery shorts.

Getubig said that the body will be subjected to an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

He cannot confirm yet whether the crime happened in the same day and in the same area where the body was found.

Naga police have not received any report of missing persons in the city.

As of press time, no one came forward to claim the body as investigation into the incident is ongoing. (FREEMAN)
