Talisay City employees to undergo drug testing
CEBU, Philippines - Talisay City will conduct random drug testing on its employees in the next few months.
Human Resource Management Office (HRMO) Head Emely Cabrera said they created a program of work in coordination with the city's aftercare program in facilitating the test. The City Budget Office allocated P43,000 for drug screening.
Since the start of Mayor Eduardo Gullas’ administration last year, the city has not yet conducted any random drug test to its personnel.
"Wala pa tay random drug test pero before an employee can be issued with an appointment, a drug test mao gyud ang number one requirement," she said.
Cabrera said the test will be done per office and that all employees, whether regular, casual, co-terminus, or job order workers, are required to participate.
"Annual ni nga program… sa HRMO. Pero kung kinahanglan balikon og drug test ang certain office, pwede ra sad gyud," she said.
Meanwhile, Cabrera said that if it is proven that a member of City of Talisay Traffic Operations Development Authority involved in a shooting incident last week is indeed into drugs, the city has the right to fire him.
The police said job order employee Louie Monreal was alleged at the scene of incident to consume illegal drugs. —/ RHM (FREEMAN)
