Two arrested for robbing South Korean student
CEBU, Philippines - Two men were arrested for allegedly robbing a 20-year-old South Korean national of valuables and cash, including important documents along General Maxilom Avenue last Black Saturday.
Hwang Myeonghon, from Seoul, South Korea who is a student at a language school in Barangay Talamban, Cebu City, was walking when the two suspects approached him.
Suspects Ryan Monceda, 29, and a certain 'Wawart' reportedly grabbed him and forcefully took his wallet which contains two credit cards, his South Korean driver’s card, NAUI diver’s card, cash worth P13,000 and his passport.
The victim immediately reported the incident to Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) Korean Desk and personnel of Theft and Robbery Section then a hot pursuit operation against the two suspects.
According to the police, Monceda and “Wawart” were on their list of usual suspects so it was not difficult to identify them after the victim provided descriptions.
The suspects were brought to CCPO later of the same day and were positively identified by the victim.
The victim was able to recover all his valuables intact.
Both suspects are now temporarily detained at the CCPO pending the filing of appropriate charges for theft against them. (FREEMAN)
