CEBU, Philippines - Stricter security measures are in place in Talisay City as it celebrates its fiesta tomorrow in honor its patron saint Sta. Teresa de Avila.

Talisay City police chief Superintendent Aileen Recla said they are now tightening security for those who will be taking part in the festivities.

Recla said he has directed the deployment of police personnel, especially for tonight and tomorrow evening when a lot of people are expected to throng the city’s public areas.

There will also be police personnel assigned to look after the safety of devotees who will attend the final novena.

Recla said patrol cars and motorcycles have been assigned to their corresponding areas of deployment.

She also acknowledged the barangay tanods who responded to her call to cooperate with the police.

She said there are also civilians who are willing to volunteer to help ensure peace and order in the city.

The Cebu Provincial Police Office  already sent 20 personnel to reinforce police manpower in Talisay for the fiesta, she added.

She also urged motorists to be more patient knowing that heavy traffic is very likely during the fiesta.

Yesterday, the image of Sta. Teresa de Avila was taken out for a fluvial procession. From Laray Church, it was brought to the Talisay Fish Port area and to the Talisay Landing marker onboard a boat. (FREEMAN)
