“Jaggy Diaz” shot dead

CEBU, Philippines - A man sporting body tattoo similar to the name of the late suspected drug lord Jeffrey "Jaguar" Diaz was shot dead midnight yesterday along Katipunan Street in Barangay Labangon.

The victim who is about 5'3" in height and large body built has the name "Jaggy Diaz" tattooed on his right chest.

Senior Inspector Manuel Cañete, chief of the Cebu City Police- Station 10, said the victim was carrying a backpack.  Witnesses told the police that the victim was about to cross the street when the unidentified assailant allegedly followed him and pointed an unknown caliber of firearm.

The victim reportedly pulled a gun from his backpack and tried to shoot it out with his assailant but his gun malfunctioned. The assailant fired several shots at the victim before fleeing with the victim's gun.

The police recovered the backpack, which contained unlicensed KG-9 machine pistol with magazine and nine rounds of ammunition. The police also found at least seven empty shells of 9mm and four live rounds of ammunition of the same caliber at the crime scene.

Investigators are looking at possible drug angle in the incident. (FREEMAN)
