Talisay police chief finally gets Gullas' nod, praise

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - After what apparently was an apprehensive start, officer-in-charge of the Talisay City Police Station, Superintendent Aileen Recla, finally has earned the support of Mayor Eduardo Gullas.

Gullas yesterday praised Recla for her performance as the city's police chief and said he will extend her stay in the city.

He congratulated Recla for a job well done, particularly in the recent anti-illegal drug operation in Barangay Tanke that she personally led, wherein two alleged notorious drug personalities were neutralized.

Junrey “Negro” Verbesada and Plapla Calapaz were both killed after resisting arrest during the buy-bust operation in Sitio Tunga, Barangay Tanke last week.

Gullas said he also admires the operatives for conducting continuous operations in Barangay Tanke, which is a known drug haven in the city.

He said he is impressed with Recla's performance and effort in just a month's service.

"I gave her high marks sa iyang paninguha. She has produced a lot of results in a short span of time,” Gullas said.

Further, Gullas said he expects Recla to continue exerting effort in reducing illegal drugs in the city.

Gullas admitted that at first, he did not approve of Recla, but said that he has seen her effort for the city through successful operations.

In an interview with Recla, she said she is thankul that Gullas has seen her effort.

“Nalipay ko kay at least nakita gyud ang atong effort ug nisalig na gyud siya,” Recla said.

Meanwhile, a police officer assigned at the Borbon Police Station is set to receive an award tomorrow for responding to a robbery while he was off duty.

Chief Superintendent Noli Taliño, director of the Police Regional Office (PRO)-7, said they will commend Police Officer 1 Erwin Pepito for responding to a commotion when he was in Barangay Guizo, Mandaue City Wednesday morning.

Pepito sustained a gunshot wound to his back after he was shot by a man who was robbing an establishment.

Taliño said as of Wednesday night, Pepito was out of danger.

“Off duty siya, napadaan siya doon, nagkaroon ng commotion kaya tumulong,” he said, adding they will give the highest award appropriate for his act. (FREEMAN)
