After losing in billiards game: Norwegian nabbed for punching bar staff

CEBU, Philippines – A Norwegian national was arrested for punching two youngsters allegedly after losing in a billiards game at a restaurant bar in Barangay Logon, Daanbantayan, Cebu late Thursday night.

Petterson Oyvind, 55, a native of Ytre Enebakk, Norway, stayed overnight inside the jail after he allegedly punched Maldito Bar and Restaurant employees Victor Monteclar Jr., 18, and Reynan Bolo, 23.

According to Police Officer 3 Ressan Moralde of Daanbantayan Police Station, the suspect was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.

Reportedly, at past 11 p.m. on Thursday, Oyvind was playing pool billiards against the victims’ companion Tyrone Estrera inside the restaurant bar when the Norwegian lost the game.

Moralde said the suspect allegedly got angry and hit Estrera with the cue stick.

In order for the tension not to escalate, Estrera, Monteclar and Bolo, went outside to keep away from the foreigner. However, the suspect allegedly followed them outside and punched Monteclar in the face.

The three allegedly chose not to make a move against the Norwegian and just left the place.

However, a few hours after, Oyvind went back inside the bar and saw Monteclar and Bolo talking.

Moralde said without any hesitation, the Norwegian again attacked and punched Bolo in his face. Bolo was able to push him hard that made Oyvind fall to the concrete floor.

The management of the bar immediately called for police assistance.

Responding policemen arrested Oyvind and brought him to the police station.

Moralde said they found out from the medical result that the suspect was drunk at the time he attacked the victims.
