CEBU, Philippines - A copy editor of a local newspaper lost almost P70,000 in cash and valuables after a thief took her bag from her car while she was inside a store along Ayala Access Road, Cebu City on Wednesday.

Liberty Pinili, a resident of Tungkil, Minglanilla, went to the Theft and Robbery Section and reported the incident.

Senior Inspector Rolito Supatan, chief of TRS, said Pinili stopped at a store around 7 p.m. to buy water and forgot to lock her car.

When she returned to her car, she discovered that her bag containing all her valuables, including gadgets worth almost P60,000 and P8,000 cash, was missing, said Supatan.

“Nataymingan ra g’yud to na naa’y niagi na tao unya open iyang sakyanan kay wala may standby didtong dapita,” said Supatan.

Investigation is ongoing to arrest the culprit, although Supatan admitted that they had a hard time identifying the culprit because there were no security cameras installed in the area.

The TRS chief reminded the public to be vigilant at all times and to always check their cars before leaving. — Jan Michael T. Lumayag, USJ-R Intern/NSA (FREEMAN)
