CEBU, Philippines - Another chapel will be granted parochial status in a mountain barangay in Cebu City today.

The chapel in Sitio Maumauan in Barangay Babag 2 will be granted parish status today.

Vice Mayor Edgardo Labella said that this will be advantageous to the people living in the mountain barangay.

“Maayo ni siya. Kay people from the mountain barangays would no longer go down para mosimba,” he said.

He added that this will help the people strengthen their religious beliefs since they would have easy access to a church.

“This is an advantage to those people in mountain areas kay moduol na sila. Since it can cater to the peoples’ spiritual needs,” he said.

Labella further added that he is hoping that there will be more areas in the city that could have easy access to churches.

“It is very significant man gud since importante man gyud ang faith ug religion sa tawo, regardless of what religion that we have,” he added.

A chapel in Sitio Tapna in Barangay Sudlon 1 was granted the same status by Archbishop Jose Palma last Sunday.  (FREEMAN)
