Daluz cries “unfair” treatment by Andales

Rene U. Borromeo - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The chairman of the committee on laws in the Cebu City Council was accused of unfair treatment by a fellow councilor.

Councilor Jose Daluz III claimed that Councilor Sisinio Andales did not act on his proposed ordinance seeking to amend the existing budget ordinance. Daluz said his proposal was filed and referred to Andales’ committee last month.

According to Daluz, while Andales sit on his proposed amendment, a similar proposal from the former’s ally which was only filed last week was immediately acted upon.

Daluz said that Andales was being unfair to him because his proposal came first before that of Councilors Jun Pe and Rodrigo Abellanosa.

But, Andales was able to come up with a committee report on Pe and Abellanosa’s proposal ahead of his.

Daluz wanted to amend the budget ordinance of 2013 to change the schedules of the distribution of cash assistance for senior citizens. He wanted it to be released every three months instead of the twice a year schedule. Pe and Abellanosa’s proposal is to have it monthly.

Andales recommended for the approval of the amendatory ordinance proposed by his allies in the Bando Osmeña Pundok Kauswagan.

Councilor Edgardo Labella, who used to chair the committee, supported Daluz. According to Labella, Andales should have presented a joint committee report of the two versions of the proposed amendatory ordinance.  (FREEMAN)
