Don’t give up, God is in control

LIFE'S ESSENCE - Katherine R. Oyson - Associated Press

One afternoon as I was browsing Facebook, this message quite hit me – as if God was talking to me: “My child, you are worrying too much. Remember Who I Am. There is nothing too hard for me. You may not see it. But I have everything planned out for you.”

I could not help but ask God to forgive me. Honestly, my faith seemed to wane after so many years have passed and a certain prayer has not been answered.  I whispered, “Lord, I’m sorry that I’ve almost lost my trust in you. I was carried away with my wants that I forgot that you have plans for me. Plans not to harm me, but plans to prosper me, and give me hope. Lord, give me the grace to keep on trusting you no matter what happens. And that I shall be patient, for good things happen to those who wait.

I didn’t waste time to scribble in my journal the message that God had sent me so that every day I would be reminded to keep on trusting Him, He Who is in control of everything.

I admire the courage and the overwhelming trust of a young friend in God in the midst of her suffering. She has stage 4 lung cancer and it has metastasized. She has gone through a lot of chemotherapy and radiations.  She looks frail and sickly but her eyes bespeak of hope for a better tomorrow, especially that her children are still growing-up.

One time I held her hand and told her, “Don’t give up. Hang on. God is in control of everything.” Her eyes welled up with tears, and the stillness of silence stood between us as we prayed together.

A writer at lovemo renyatsine.com website enthuses: “I write to the weary today. I speak to the weak. I encourage the desperate. I inspire the burdened. Whatever you are going through – don’t give up. God is in charge. I wept in my spirit. I wept because sometimes we fail to trust God. Even when everything is breaking apart around is, we forget that He holds it together inside us. When you don’t understand the process, stand under the promise. When the enemy brings a breakdown, God turns it into a breakthrough.”

Rock Warren in his website, “DailyHope with Rich Warren,” has this inspiring message: “… Don’t give up on your dream. Don’t give up on your marriage. Don’t give up on your health. Don’t, don’t, don’t give up. God is in control. You haven’t read the final chapter of your life. God’s already written it, but you haven’t read it yet.”

The southbay.org website shares: “Yes, life here on earth will have seasons of pain. God will put “sandpaper people” in your life to smooth out your rough edges, and, yes, life here on earth will be far from perfection, but we are never to give up. We are to rely upon God’s supernatural power to keep pressing forward at all costs no matter what comes our way. God is doing a greater work in your life, in your circumstances, in the storm, in the path, and in this season of waiting. If He has allowed it, then we have to trust Him, He has a good reason for it.

Through the testing, the trials, and your fervent and obedient sowing, God will strengthen you, so don’t give up. You will one day see the light at the end of this trial breaking through. The mountain you have been running up has a finish line waiting for you.”
