Former OFW killed in ambush

Rowena Capistrano - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — A former overseas Filipino worker was killed in an ambush while he was driving his vehicle along Soong 1, Barangay Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City yesterday morning.

A riding in tandem reportedly shot Gil Antonio, 57, married and a resident of Barangay Mactan.

He was with his children at the time of the incident.

Police Master Sergeant Raymond Sosmeña of the Mactan Police Station said that based on their initial investigation, the victim was on his way to his children’s school when the assailants drove beside the multicab he was driving.

Antonio sustained a gunshot wound to his head.  His children were not hurt.

The police have yet to determine the motive of the killing.

They are also looking at the closed circuit television footages in the area that would aid their investigation.

The police are also not discounting love triangle and drugs as motives in the shooting.—  GAN (FREEMAN)
