“Blooms” the markers of Cebu’s Street

Yasunari Ramon Suarez Taguchi - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — Modeling debutants of varied ages ramped up the metro’s stylistic ideals on the third Sunday of May, presenting the in-season collections of the metro’s favorite fashion labels in a bespoke fashion presentation.

Titled “Blooms” and staged at The Gallery of the Ayala Center Cebu, the event’s participating models shared the runway with a number of the metro’s top modeling pros. All on the runway wore sharply styled ensembles by Great Kids, De Los Reyes Optical, Mango, Payless Shoesource, Karimadon and Rustan’s.

Doubling as a presentation of Cebu’s constantly evolving street fashion scene, the event’s featured outfits harped on the ambivalence of minimalist designs – exemplified by vividly patterned summer dresses, chic pantsuits, sleek-lined business casual ensembles and more.

The show was an illustration of how the less-means-more ideal can be achieved without losing a sense of flair. Much of the featured designs were characterized by simple lines that flattered physiques, made complete by a balanced use of a vibrant palette of tints, tones and shades.

Though mainly underscored by the style markers of summer, the presented outfits in “Blooms” had a year-round applicable appeal. Indeed, the colors and high spirits of summer can hold very well across seasons.
