Consul General Shi Yong’s Dinner

Everybody was so excited waiting for the main entrance to open. Then at 7:45 p.m., the lights were on, and the Cebu Eastern College students entered with the dragon and lion dances being performed down upon the lotus flowers which stood quietly in the water. This would depict a peaceful and quiet beautiful day in China.

Soon followed the Chinese Umbrella dance often performed when there is a celebration or party. The umbrella symbolizes honor and wealth, and is traditionally made of paper or cloth. The dance was performed by the Sacred Heart School Ateneo de Cebu.

And finally, the speech of Consul General Shi Yong who spoke very clearly in English. For his nice speech about the Philippines and China, he was given a thunderous applause. Dinner followed where every guest greeted each other Happy Chinese New Year!
