“Ultra Violet”: Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2018

CEBU, Philippines — The Pantone Color Institute recently revealed its “Color of the Year” for 2018 – “Ultra Violet” (Pantone 18-3838).  The Pantone Color Institute considers it to be the hue to lead the color templates of designers, artists and visual merchandisers this year.

Pantone executive director Leatrice Eiseman describes the year’s color as “a blue-based purple that takes our awareness and potential to a higher level.” The shade is portended as one which “symbolizes experimentation and non-conformity, spurring individuals to imagine their unique mark on the world and push boundaries through creative outlets.”

Since 1990, the Pantone Color Institute has been nominating a color which it predicts would be all the rage in the next twelve months.

Announced in the tail-end portions of 2017, it’s interesting to see how “Ultra Violet” will be used by Cebu’s artists and designers as the definitive hue of 2018, or if local talents will pick up the hue for their creations at all.
