PROC 68th Anniversary

Chinese Consul General Shi Yong of the Chinese Consulate in Cebu led the celebration of the 68th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

Held at the Grand Ballroom of Marco Polo Plaza Cebu, filled the venue to the hilt. In his speech, Consul General Shi Yong mentioned that China has made remarkable achievements in their economic, social and cultural undertakings. He added that in Cebu, their consulate office has moved to the Mandarin Plaza Hotel and has since resumed full function and service.

In his speech, the good Consul said: “We work closely with local governments and other parties, broadening and deepening exchanges and cooperation between China and the Visayas-Mindanao areas. We have high level official visits to this area and early this year, Vice Premier Wang Yang paid a successful visit to Davao, met with President Duterte and signed a six-year developmental plan for Chinese-Philippines cooperation in trade and industry. Chengdu City and Cebu City governments exchanged visits and signed the memorandum of sisterhood cities. Nanning City and Zibo City renewed their friendship with Davao City and Mandaue City. We have visiting Chinese art troupes, deepening understanding and friendship between peoples.”

Consul General Yong also mentioned that more direct flights from China were opened up allowing more Chinese tourists to come to this area. By next year, they expect more cooperation programs to be delivered. All these have brought mutual understanding and tangible benefits to the people of China and the Philippines.
