Bea Alonzo stuns as Calendar Girl

STAR CIRCUIT - Ricky Calderon - The Freeman

“Mudrasta”, produced by TREX Entertainment and directed by Julius Alfonso, is the comeback movie of Roderick Paulate. If he will have his way, Kuya Dick hopes to show the film to a wider audience.

As of now, viewer turnout in cinemas is still small. Even Kuya Dick is unsure if he is ready to return to theaters, although he is looking forward to it. That’s why he didn’t feel bad when he learned that “Mudrasta” was not chosen as a 2021 MMFF entry.

“I didn’t know the producers submitted it as an entry. It might turn out to be a blessing in disguise. I believe it would be better if more people will be able to watch it. Hindi lang masaya ang movie. It is also touching,” he said.

The touching part comes from the characters played by Kuya Dick and Tonton Gutierrez. Even before pink love – or BL as it is called today – became in vogue, Kuya Dick and Tonton did an MMK  episode about the love story between a straight married man and his gay friend.

Kuya Dick is running for councilor in District II of Quezon City. He was a three-termer councilor and is looking to reclaim his post.

In his many sorties in the barangays, it warms Kuya Dick’s heart when he learned the people remember his service while in office, and that he was able to touch lives in his own way.

“Iba talaga pag nasa puso ang pagsisilbi at tapat ka sa tungkulin mo,” said Kuya Dick, who recently won Best Supporting Actor at the Star Awards for TV for the comedy series “One of the Baes.”

The public was surprised to learn that Bea Alonzo is 2022’s Tanduay Calendar Girl.

Netizens didn’t expect the actress to pose sexy for the calendar of an intoxicating drink since she has never done a sexy movie. That she was chosen as calendar girl was a big shock to many. Some find this move to do sexy poses for a calendar not much to their liking.

Bea shared a mini-docu and behind-the-scenes of her pictorial for the endorsement in her Instagram. If there were those who didn’t like Bea’s derring-do, her industry friends lauded her latest undertaking.

Among the celebrities who congratulated her in her Instagram nclude former leading man and now Kapuso star John Lloyd Cruz, Derek Ramsey, Pauleen Luna Sotto, Iza Calzado, Christine Babao, Julie Anne San Jose, IC Mendoza and her boyfriend Dominic Roque.

As of this writing, Bea’s Instagram post has 194,692 likes and 2,661 comments.

Instead of the traditional parade of stars along Roxas Blvd to usher in the annual MMFF, a fluvial parade along Pasig River is being planned for this year’s entries. Last year, the parade and awards night were done virtually.

Due to the need for social distancing, MMFF’s Executive Committee will discuss the pros and cons of having a fluvial parade that will be participated by stars of the eight films. From Pasig, the parade will pass by Mandaluyong and Makati, then end in Manila.

We wonder how fans, who used to eagerly line up along Roxas Blvd. to catch a glimpse of their favorite stars, react to this planned fluvial parade. Well, it is up to the MMFF Execom, headed by Benhur Abalos, to pull this off. We’re sure they will think of ways to entice the public to go out and watch.
